Future Thinkers Lab (7th-12th graders)

Tuesdays from 3:30pm-4:30pm starting 9/22 for 8 weeks

 

In today's world, students can ask AI tools a question and receive an answer within seconds. However, the same AI tool can provide very different responses depending on the quality of the questions and the way they are framed. The real advantage belongs to students who know how to ask strong questions, think clearly, evaluate evidence, and explain their ideas with confidence. 

Future Thinkers Lab is a discussion-based enrichment class for curious students who love asking “Why?” “How?” and “What if?” Through guided discussions and research-based activities, students will explore how scientists, innovators, and engineers approach interesting real-world questions and problems. Rather than simply learning facts, students will practice how to investigate a question: What do we already know? What information do we need? What evidence would convince us? Could something else explain what we are seeing? How could we test our idea?

Mock Trial Club (Upper Middle School through High School)

Wednesdays from 3:20pm-4:30pm starting 9/23 through 11/18

Mock Trial Club is excited to invite all upper middle school and high school students to join our Mock Trial program this semester!
 

Here is what you can expect:

- Real-world roles: Work with an original case and step into the shoes of attorneys, witnesses, and jurors.

- Skill building: Develop your confidence in public speaking, critical thinking, and teamwork.

- Hands-on learning: Explore how the justice system works through interactive activities and collaborative challenges.

- Diverse interests: This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in law, storytelling, debate, or just trying something new.
 

We also hope to take a team to the NJSBF Mock Trial Competition this year. We will discuss the commitment and responsibilities of this coached team during our first meetings.

Baking/Cooking Club (14+ year olds)
Thursdays from 3:20pm - 5pm starting 10/8 for 9 weeks
 

This 9-week, hands-on club is designed for students ages 14 and up who are interested in cooking and baking. Each week, students will prepare a different recipe while learning practical techniques that can be applied in their own kitchens.

 

The club will include a variety of desserts, baked goods, and savory dishes, with recipes ranging from individual desserts and pastries to homemade comfort foods. Students will be actively involved in preparing each recipe from start to finish with a live demonstration, emphasizing the development of cooking and baking skills, proper techniques, and presentation. No previous cooking or baking experience is required.

 

Enrollment is limited to 7 students.

Food Allergy Disclaimer: Recipes will contain eggs, dairy, and often meat and chicken. All recipes will be nut-free.
